One Size Does Not Fit All: The Strategic Use of Inclusion in Mediation Processes

Together with Professor Marie-Joëlle Zahar (Université de Montreal), Dr. Sara Hellmüller co-lead a USIP-funded project on how contextual factors influence civil society inclusion in mediation processes. The project included a comparative analysis of six case studies (Colombia, Myanmar, DR Congo, Syria, Nepal, and Kenya). It sought to nuance current debates on civil society inclusion by providing insights on how factors related to the conflict as well as to the mediation process influence inclusion strategies.
